Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to SDDC Manager 5.2 in VCF 5.2, the UI crashes and is unable to load any content into its dashboard.

Environment

VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2

VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x

Cause

The operationsmanager service on the SDDC Manager runs out of its heap memory during precheck for 10 parallel add host workflows.

Resolution

  1. SDDC Manager max heap size for the operationsmanager service needs to be increased from 2GB to 8GB.

    1. Get an SSH session to the SDDC Manager and switch the user to root.

    2. Edit /etc/vmware/vcf/operationsmanager/vcf-operations-manager.conf file using vi and change the value -Xmx2G  to -Xmx8G

    3. Restart the operationsmanager service

      systemctl restart operationsmanager
      systemctl status operationsmanager

  2. SDDC Manager appliance memory configuration needs to be updated from 16GB into 22GB.

    1. Login into the Management vCenter Server UI as [email protected].

    2. Shutdown the SDDC Manager VM.

    3. Right-click the SDDC Manager VM in the inventory and select Edit Settings.

    4. In the Memory text box, increase the Memory size from 16 GB to 22 GB, and Click OK.

    5. Power-on the SDDC Manager VM.
