Issue/Introduction

The ca_nim.properties file is a configuration file located within the Identity Manager iam_im.ear directory. This article explains the purpose of this file, the credentials it stores, and how to safely manage it if you are not utilizing Service Desk integration.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.5 & 15

Cause

The ca_nim.properties file is required specifically for Identity Manager integrations with Service Desk. If you are not utilizing this integration, you may adjust the file to remove stored credentials.

Resolution

  1. Locate the file: Navigate to the iam_im.ear/config/ directory.
  2. Create a backup: Before making any modifications, create a backup copy of ca_nim.properties in a secure location.
  3. Remove unnecessary credentials: If you are not using Service Desk integration, you may delete the sensitive credential information from the file.
  4. Post-Patch Review: Be aware that Service Packs and patches may overwrite this file. Always review the ca_nim.properties file after applying any Identity Manager patches to ensure your changes are preserved or reapplied if necessary.
