DX NetOps CA Spectrum

Issue/Introduction

Security is asking whether the installation/application account can be a service account (in Active Directory) or must the account be a local account.

Is it required to have a local account to run the application for Spectrum?

Does the DX NetOps Spectrum SpectroSERVER or OneClick installation owner need to be a local user on the systems OS?

Does Spectrum require the install owner to be a local user?

Can the Spectrum install owner be an AD or LDAP user that is externally authenticated?

Environment

All supported DX NetOps Spectrum releases

Cause

Internal environmental requirements prevent use of local users.

Resolution

The answer provided is the same for:

  • Supported Windows or Linux Operating System releases
  • Spectrum component systems:
    • SpectroSERVER
    • OneClick web server

As long as the install owner user can run the required commands/services and is set up properly as a sudo user, it should work properly.

Key tests are validating the user can access the server itself, and the user can perform the required actions to manage the software.

See the Spectrum Prerequisites documentation topic for more details around preparing for a Spectrum installation.
