Issue/Introduction

UIM data engine is not processing data after MSSQL server patching activity, cluster failover, or similar activity.

" Failed to insert QoS data into the database, check that the database is running."

Environment

Microsoft SQL Server with (SQLOLEDB) or (SQLNCLI11)  selected as provided in the data_engine probe

Cause

According to Microsoft (Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server), the current usable DB drivers of the data_engine (SQLOLEDB) and (SQLNCLI11) are outdated/deprecated.

Resolution

Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to DX UIM Admin Console or IM.
  2. Select your primary server.
  3. Select the Probes.
  4. In the data_engine probe row, Select the Action icon, and select Configure.
  5. Select Database Configuration from the left menu.
  6. Ensure Microsoft is the Database vendor.
  7. Select MSOLEDBSQL as the Provider.
  8. Save the configuration.
  9. Restart the probe.
