VMware vCenter Server

Issue/Introduction

  • User creates VM-a with a certain network port group, but it was powered-on on host-1 which doesn’t configured with the VM’s network configuration.
  • During power on, there is a warning message of incompatible network configuration, however the power on was successful.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server

Cause

Network availability compatibility check is not a strict DRS compatibility check requirement for DRS to power on the VM. Meaning, if this compatibility check fails, DRS treat it as not an error but a warning and powers on the VM.

Resolution

In order to force DRS to treat it as an error, reconfigure the VM and select the option 'Connect at power on' for the network adapter.

If  'Connect at power on' for the network adapter is already configured, please do the steps from Additional Information Section.
