Issue/Introduction

Received WTO message "CA-7.252 BATCH TERMINAL #1 IN USE".  @ REPLY WAIT,CANCEL, OR RESET.

Replied "WAIT"  and Job waited for over 2 hours and then Job stopped waiting and ended without running Job.

Environment

Product: CA 7

Resolution

A previous job using BTI # 1 was probably cancelled on this system. If a BTI job is cancelled, this will cause the terminal bit not to be reset in the COMMDS and therefore the terminal cannot be used.

Replying "RESET" to the WTO message "CA-7.252 BATCH TERMINAL #1 IN USE"  will free the terminal.

Also a recycle of CA 7 will reset the Batch Terminals bits within the COMMDS dataset.

A run down of Batch Terminal bits:

  • There are 8 BTI bits in the COMMDS.
  • When batch terminal # 1 is in use, the bit is basically set to ON
  • When the batch job using BTI # 1 completes the bit is turned off by the SASSBSTR batch program
  • If the job is cancelled that BTI # bit is still on and never goes off
  • Therefore when you try to use the BTI #1 again, you get the WTO message CA-7.252 BATCH TERMINAL #1 IN USE.
