and the job ends correctly after the WTOR Reply.

Why this WTOR and how to avoid it, as it should be in a normal situation.

Resolution

The message IEC507D  comes from the Z/OS Operating System and it is asking for permission to write on an unexpired tape, so Disk has no control over that.

In order to suppress the WTOR there are two options:

  1. If a Tape Management System (like CA1 or TLMS or IBM RMM) is present, then the Disk techdoc at the following link:Control Disk Archive and Backup Tapes with Less Risk describes how to define Disk as EDM to the TMS Product involved.
  2. If a Tape Management System is not present and only DFSMS and Disk Tape Pools are used   ( something like ADD POOLNAME=ARCVPOOL,VOLUME=VS1000,NUMBER=1000),  then the tapes included in the pool should be correctly synchronized with the DFSMS definitions to avoid the IEC507D message
