Windows VixMntapi doesn't support mounting volumes from GPT partitions on dynamic disk

Issue/Introduction

• When trying to mount such a volume, Windows MntApi reports error "Partition ignored because it is non data partition".
• Below is an example:
  
  INFO MntApi - Partition found type Windows LDM Data / unique 719bb963-b3b1-4339-9f-dc-07-c2-aa-cf-78-d5 name:LDM data partition start:208640 size:12898304 attribs:0x0 primary NTFS
INFO MntApi - Partition ignored because it is non data partition.
  
  

 

Environment

VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK)

Cause

VDDK doesn't have full capability to support mounting volumes on disks managed by Windows Logical Disk Manager

Resolution

There is no resolution or workaround for this issue.

VMware has no plan to support it.
