Issue/Introduction

  • VMC on AWS with VMware Cloud Flex Storage may see an increase in capacity from  200 TiB to 800 TiB
  • Flex Storage datastore will have events showing an increase in capacity following a datastore inaccessible event

Environment

VMware Cloud on AWS

Cause

  • Logical capacity was increased from 200 TiB to 800 TiB after the upgrade to the latest VMware Cloud Flex Storage version (7.27.1.0) done at the backend by the VMware Cloud Flex Storage maintenance team.
  • APD (All Paths Down) was triggered as part of the upgrade. That is why the datastore had an inaccessible event.

Resolution

  • Cost-wise, the logical capacity increase from 200 TiB to 800 TiB won't make any difference since the service is only charged based on the actual usage of the datastore capacity.
  • Hence, this capacity increase can be safely ignored.
