Issue/Introduction

The following warning logs seen in ESXi /var/run/log/vmkernel.log:

YYYY-MM-DDTT:TT:TTZ Wa(180) vmkwarning: cpu0:1071377 opID=<op_ID>)WARNING: kcp: KCPPortStateUpdateHandler:1785: [nsx@6876 comp="nsx-esx" subcomp="kcp"]Failed to read port[<portID>] VIF ID : Not found

Environment

VMware NSX-T Datacenter
VMware NSX

Cause

NSX kcp checks every ethernet adapter connection attempt on NSX enabled VDS.
If the VM is not connected to a NSX segment, then the VM doesn't have the VIF ID property.

Resolution

This is by design.
The log message can be safely ignored.
