Issue/Introduction

Serarch Server 17.4.0 is being installed separately on a Windows machine without SDM or Catalog. When the installation is complete, the service is deleted and no longer appears to be started (below log identifying what happened).

Environment

Service Desk Manager v17.4

Cause

Search Server was being installed in a non-default location.  The configuration files that install the service were pointing to the default path, which caused the error (without recording anything in the log) when it uninstalls the old elasticsearch-2.1.1 service and tried to install the new service.

Resolution

These commands will manually install the 17.4 Search Server service:

<CASearchServer install folder>\elasticsearch-7.17.6\bin>set ES_JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\CA\SC\JRE\11.0.18
<CASearchServer install folder>\elasticsearch-7.17.6\bin>elasticsearch-service.bat install

Additional Information

You should always review the install.log to ensure a complete and successful installation.
