Failed to install VCF license on Aria Operations

Issue/Introduction

Existing license is expiring. 

New VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) license has been issued.

While trying to apply the new license to the existing Aria Operations environment, the process failed with "invalid license" error.

Cause

• VMware Aria Operations now accepts entitlements through vCenter for both VVF and VCF.  Rather than requiring separate license keys, VMware Aria Operations will use the vSphere keys associated with VVF and VCF for entitlement after they are applied to vCenter. Upon vCenter registration, VMware Aria Operations automatically recognizes the entitlement.

• The new VVF and VCF license can only be applied/installed on Aria Operations 8.16 and above.  

Resolution

Aria Operations environment requires to be upgraded to 8.16 and above in order for the new VVF and VCF license to be supported.
