Issue/Introduction

In Hourly Usage Report, license keys are reported as hashed i.e. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Environment

vCloud Usage Meter 4.8.x

Cause

The vCenter user which you use for vCloud Usage Meter collection does not have the correct permissions assigned.

For more information please see the "Assign Permissions for vCenter Server for Metering with vCloud Usage Meter" section in the vCloud-Usage-Meter-48-Deployment-and-Administration document.

The steps below are taken from the guide linked above


Procedure:

 A. Log in to the vSphere Web Client with your administrator credentials.

 B. Navigate to Menu > Administration.

 C. Assign the following permissions.

1. Set the storage privileges.
2 .For vCenter Server versions 8.x, select VM storage policies > View VM storage policies.
3. For vCenter Server versions 7.x, select Profile-driven storage > Profile-driven storage view.
4. To allow managing and viewing license keys, select Global > Licenses.
5. If the vCenter Server instance has vSAN enabled, select Cns > Searchable.

E. Click Next. Enter a name and a description for the new role and click Finish.

F. Assign the new role to the user which you use for vCloud Usage Meter collection.
