Issue/Introduction

In Hourly Usage Report, we have a field license key for the metered product. Non-standard licenses (evaluation licenses, trial licenses, and hosts without a license) appear in the form of xxxxxxxxxx. There are instances where the license key is not visible in the report (hidden behind #), which is crucial now as new program demands it.

Environment

vCloud Usage Meter 4.8.x

Cause

  • Verify that the vSphere administrator is not assigned with conflicting vCenter Server roles.
  • Assign vCenter Server permissions at either a Global level or to an object in the object hierarchy.
  • To ensure the successful billing, you must assign a permission for viewing and managing product license keys.

Procedure:

 A. Log in to the vSphere Web Client with your administrator credentials.

 B. Navigate to Menu > Administration.

 C. Assign the following permissions.

1. Set the storage privileges.

3. For vCenter Server versions 7.x, select Profile-driven storage > Profile-driven storage view. > To allow managing and viewing license keys, select Global > Licenses.

D. If the vCenter Server instance has vSAN enabled, select Cns > Searchable.
