Issue/Introduction

1. Users cannot create a Distributed Catalog in VMware Cloud Director 10.6.
2. Existing Storage Policies cannot be updated to support Distributed Catalogs.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.6

Cause

This issue can occur if the pre-requisites for a Distributed Catalog Storage Policy have not been met.

Resolution

Ensure the pre-requisites for a Distributed Catalog Storage Policy have been met.

1. All Datastores associated with that Storage Policy must be marked as distributed.
2. The selected Datastores must be assigned to only this Storage Policy.
3. The Provider VDC Storage Policy must be reconfigured to only support Catalog Media, vApp/VM Templates or both

Note:

• There are some Storage Policies which will exist by default such as VM Encryption, which by default will be associated to all datastores.
• You will need to modify these and any other existing Storage Policies to ensure they are no associated with the newly created Distributed Catalog Storage Policy.
