Aria Operations CIS Report is Showing Warning: "NTP Daemon policy is not enabled" on Host Object

Issue/Introduction

CIS is showing Warning for "NTP Daemon policy is not enabled"

NTP service is enabled and running on the ESXi Host.

Environment

Aria Operations 8.14

Cause

NTP Startup Policy is set to "Start and Stop manually"

Aria Operations is showing NTP Daemon Policy Properties as being "Off"

In Aria Operations Standard UI:

• Search and go to the details of the ESXi Host.
• Go to Metrics Tab.
• Expand Properties/Configuration/Security/<NTP Daemon>/Policy

 

Resolution

Update the Startup Policy for the NTP service and set the policy to "Start and stop with host" in vCenter

In vCenter UI:

• Go to the Esxi host in question.
• Go to the Configure Tab.
• Go to Services.
• Select "NTP Daemon" and click on "EDIT STARTUP POLICY"
• Select "Start and stop with host"

Once the change is made, the update will be reflected in Aria Operations after a few collection cycle.

The "NTP Daemon Policy" in Aria Operations will now change to "On"

The Warning in CIS Report is now be cleared.
