Issue/Introduction

Introduction:

This procedure can be used to move the Oracle Redo logs
to a new location. This is useful if you are low/out of
disk space in the location where the REDO logs are located

Instructions:

1. Save the Database:

 nhSaveDb -p <path>

2. Shutdown the database:

           nhStopDb immediate

3. Copy (not move) the redo log files from the old location to the new location using OS command.

  Example:

    cp -p /u1/oradata/EHEALTH/REDO01A.log /u2/oradata/EHEALTH/REDO01A.log

NOTE: Make sure the owner/permissions are preserved.

4. Startup & mount the database but do not open:

    sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
       SQL> Startup mount

5. Rename (move) the Redo Logs:

 Example:

       SQL> Alter database rename file '/u1/oradata/EHEALTH/REDO01A.log' to '/u2/oradata/EHEALTH/REDO01A.log';

* Make sure to do this for all four redo logs.

6. Now open the database

   SQL> Alter database open
   SQL>exit

7) The next two commands are to start oracle and start tnslistener

  nhStopDb immediate
  nhStartDb
