Agent installs have been fine for a long time but all of the sudden we're getting these errors:
Policy request failed, COM error: Unexpected response from server: Policy is reported unchanged but not cached on agent (0x80004005)
Failed to send basic inventory, COM error: Operation aborted (0x80004004)
Uninstall / reinstalling the agent does not make a difference. What could be causing this?

Check the value of HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\International > Locale value, and make sure that value is 00000409. See screenshot below.
NOTE: if this setting is changed, a reboot is required before it takes effect.
This error was seen when the Locale was set to what seemed to be random numbers.
