Issue/Introduction

After vSphere Replication Appliance self-sign certificate is updated, the VAMI page shows successfully reconfigured and you also find hms/hbrsrv services are started successful.

However, you notice all the existing VMs replication failed with  No host can be used to access datastore path message as shown in the screenshot here.

ESXi hostd log shows 'unknown client SSL thumbprint' and 'invalid login' errors.

hbrsrv.log shows 'internal errors'

Correcting guestinfo.hbr.hms-thumbprint and guestinfo.hbr.hbrsrv-thumbprint mismatch does not resolve the issue.

Environment

VMware vSphere Replication 8.x

Cause

Occasionally, VR appliance fails to update the certificate in the hbrserverenity table of VRMS DB including the certificate and the thumbprint

Resolution

If the above symptoms are observed, contact Broadcom Support for further assistance.

Additional Information

When running step 5 : try to use Notepad ++ (Windows default 'notepad' app won't work ) to 'merge' lines of the certificate body and remove the empty space in-between the lines.
