Issue/Introduction

VMware Tanzu is streamlining and simplifying its portfolio of product offerings and bundles. As part of this simplification, support for LCM-based deployments of Aria Config will be ending immediately and retroactively from the current release back to Aria Config version 8.12.2.8 to help improve our overall support for Aria Config. This does not affect any other deployment method of Aria Config. All deployments of Aria Config created using the standard installer are fully supported as much as the software version running is fully supported.

For customers that have deployed Aria Config using LCM, we recommend that you migrate your Aria Config deployment to a standard deployment as soon as possible to maintain full level of support . A standard deployment would be a deployment that has been deployed to a single node, or to multiple nodes as per the installation documentation. The latest installation documentation at the time of writing can be found at https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Aria-Automation/8.16/Installing-Automation-Config/GUID-DBE6D84B-0D4B-4747-8291-B0D80851CE62.html

Customers should expect to have support for migrating their appliances to standard deployments of Aria Config.

Environment

LCM based Aria Config version 8.12.x and newer

Cause

PhotonOS 3 has now reached it's end of life as well as the version of Salt that supports this OS.

Resolution

If you are an existing customer with a LCM based deployment of Aria Config, then we encourage you to download the standard installer and follow instructions from the attached KB article (375126) on how to migrate your deployment to standalone deployment.
