Issue/Introduction

Deployments through Aria automation using vCenter template(With snapshot) to a single datastore creates instant clones instead of full clones.

Implications: VM disks couldn't be resized as disks are deployed as snapshot disk.

Environment

Aria Automation 8.x

Cause

 VM provisioning using VM template(with snapshot) on single datastore from Aria automation is managed by Aria Automation by making a VM Clone operation on vCenter using the API's exposed by vCenter, as a result the type of clone is neither being managed by vCenter nor under control of Aria Automation.

 

Resolution

Workaround:

To create a SDRS Cluster with a single datastore in it and use this cluster instead of single datastore for the deployments through Aria Automation.
