Coordinator log reports "requested WAL segment XXXX has already been removed"

Issue/Introduction

The coordinator log regularly and frequently reports a message "requested WAL segment XXXXXXX has already been removed"

 

Cause

The standby has failed to keep in sync with the coordinator and it is now continually trying to get a WAL file that has been deleted from the coordinator.

Resolution

Fix

Remove and reinitialise the standby with gpinistandby command.

Use "gpinitstandby --help" to get details on the command.

To remove the standby:

gpinitstandby -r

To initialise the standby:

gpinitstandby -s HOSTNAME

where HOSTNAME is the hostname of the standby host
