A cluster should not be configured as a spoke edge and must always be positioned at the top of the SDWAN network hierarchy (i.e. The HUB role). This requirement means that direct cluster-to-cluster communication via overlay is not feasible.
To address this limitation, we have introduced the cluster interconnect feature. This feature allows two clusters to communicate with each other via overlay. Consequently, spoke edges connected to Cluster1 can now communicate with spoke edges connected to Cluster2.
VCO / VCG / VCE software version less than 5.4 GA
The cluster interconnect feature is available as an early access option in versions 5.1 / 5.2 / 5.3. However, it is not recommended to enable this feature in a production network. Furthermore, the cluster interconnect feature is incompatible between the 5.1 / 5.2 / 5.3 edge versions and the 5.4 or later VCG versions. This incompatibility may cause SD-WAN routing issues and negatively impact the production network.
Known issue for cluster hub node (edge and gateway) on past 5.4 version.
141087 - Crash might happen for gateway or cluster edge node.
Fix version - R5401-20240314-GA-141087
Upgrade all the SDWAN components (VCO / VCG / VCE) to the 5.4 or above version to get the complete benefits of the cluster interconnect feature.
