Issue:

ERROR: Unrecognized SAS option name EXTENDOBSCOUNTER.

ERROR: (SASXKRIN): KERNEL RESOURCE INITIALIZATION FAILED.

ERROR: Unable to initialize the SAS kernel.

Environment:

CA MICS Sites at SAS 9.3 and above.

Cause:

The error occurs when SASENV is coded in JCLDEFC/JCLDEF and there is no TKMVSENV DD statement in the CA MICS unit PROCs.

Resolution:

1. Update prefix.CNTL(JCLGENA) to point to the correct SAS libraries (if necessary) and submit the job.

2. Submit prefix.CNTL(PROCJOB2).

3. Submit prefix.CNTL(JCLGENC).

4. Submit prefix.CNTL(PROCJOB3).

Additional Information:

This problem may also occur if the SASENV parameter was added to sharedprefix.PARMS(JCLDEFC) while upgrading to a new release of SAS at CA MICS 12.9 or higher.
