Error: "Install did not complete successfully .. Access is Denied" whenWindows ADK install failed to complete

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to install Windows ADK 10 or 11 and Add-ons, the following or similar error is seen:

Install did not complete successfully.
Error information
Access is Denied.

Environment

DS 8.x

GSS 3.x

Windows ADK and Add-ons

WinPE 10 or 11

Cause

Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit and add-ons are required to be installed with an administrator account. The UAC (User Account Control) should also be set to 'Never Notify'

Sometimes GPO's will also prevent an administrator account from installing either component.

Resolution

Install the Windows ADK with a local or domain administrator. Also ensure that the UAC is disabled or set to 'Never Notify' for best results.

If issues still arise, then review the setup log files and contact Microsoft support.
