Configuring the SMP Console's "global search" automatic start timeout functionality

Issue/Introduction

By default, the SMP Console's "global search" begins to automatically search as soon as you type any value:

Environment

ITMS 8.7.2

Cause

This is the default functionality in ITMS 8.7.2 and earlier versions of the SMP Console.

Resolution

Beginning in the ITMS 8.7.3, there is a new timeout value in Core Settings that allows you to change this. To do this, in the SMP Console go to Settings > Notification Server > Core Settings and create a new Core Setting item named "ConsoleAutoStartSearchTimeout" which accepts values in milliseconds and you can enter the time delay that would work best for your environment. Setting this new core setting to 0 disables the auto-search as shown here:

NOTE: For the ITMS 8.7.2 version you can use the attached files to replace the default files in the "C:\Program Files\Altiris\CustomConsole\Web" folder, renaming the attached files by removing the .remove extension.
