Has the CA OPS/MVS function WORDPOS changed?

Yes, the WORDPOS function did have a problem and has been corrected with PTF's for release 12.1 (PTF RO79090) and 12.2 (PTF RO79173). The change was then sourced in the base of release 12.3. The pre-existing SSMCICS sample rule was then incorrect with these fixes, the PTF to correct the rule changed all WORDPOS function calls to POS. The only check in the SSMCICS sample that did not need changed from WORDPOS to POS is the example for the DFHSI1500 message. All other checks would fail due to a period on the last word in the WORDPOS function.

Additional Information:

The following PTF's provides a new version of the SSMCICS sample rule:

RO82072 for release 12.1
RO82081 for release 12.2
RO82090 for release 12.3
