Error: "Software Solution #### with version # cannot be found in depot" when reconfiguring for vSphere HA

Environment

• VMware vCenter Server 7.x Appliance
• VMware vCenter Server 8.x Appliance
• VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x
• VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

The ESXi image is no longer available and cannot be found within the depot. If the missing image is set as a desired image, enabling vSphere HA will fail when the image validation is performed.

Resolution

Edit the cluster image and re-enable vSphere HA.

1. Log into the vCenter vSphere Client
2. Navigate to the Cluster > Updates tab > Image section
3. Within the Image section, click on Edit
4. Change the "ESXi Version" in the drop-down menu to an appropriate release
5. Click Save
6. Enable vSphere HA

Workaround:

If no suitable release is available in step 4, the workaround is to create a new cluster (managed with a single image or not) in the same datacenter, disconnect the hosts from the original cluster, move them to the new cluster, and then reconnect the hosts.
