Issue/Introduction

We would like to identify which events are generated from traps in Spectrum and if those events assert an alarm.

Environment

Version: Any
Component: Alarms and Events

Resolution

You can get a list of events that are generated from a trap by doing the following:

- Log into OneClick

- Select Tools -> Utilities -: Event Configuration from the menu

- In the Navigation panel, right mouse click on any column header and check the Trap Event, Event Message and Cause Code columns

- Sort on the Trap column. A check in the Trap Event column means the event is generated from a trap.

- Click on the Export icon and save to a csv file to import into Xcel

The trap events that have the "Cause Code" column populated are the ones that will generate an alarm.

Additional Information

Note: If the Cause Code column is populated for the Trap event, that means the event directly associated with the Trap will generate an alarm. The Trap event may have an Event Rule or Procedure that generates an event that asserts an alarm. You will need to examine the EventDisp files located in the $SPECROOT/SS/CsVendor directory (out of the box) and the $SPECROOT/custom/Events directory (customized) to verify.
