Unable to upgrade to vIDM 3.3.7 via the Online method

Issue/Introduction

Upgrading vIDM from version 3.3.6 to version 3.3.7 via the Online method fails with the following error messages:

"Failure: Error during package download. Please try again"

"Update failed, revert to snapshot and try again"

 

You have verified the vIDM appliance has external internet connectivity and there is no proxy interference

The vami.log under /opt/vmware/var/log/vami shows "404 Not Found URL"

Environment

vIDM 3.3.x

Cause

With the VMware to Broadcom transition the https://vapp-updates.vmware.com URL used for the Online upgrade method has not been properly redirected yet.

Upgrading via the Online method fails when attempting to pull RPMs from the https://vapp-updates.vmware.com URL as the URL is not accessible. 

Resolution

1. Download the vIDM 3.3.7 Offline repository from the Broadcom product download page

2. Upgrade vIDM to version 3.3.7 via the Offline method

If you are upgrading to VMware Identity Manager 3.3.7 using vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager, only the offline upgrade is supported.
