Issue/Introduction

You have questions on if the SEP SESC client can be moved to a new ICDM Domain by upgrading a client to a new version or your client moved to a unexpected domain after an upgrade.

Environment

Windows 10
Windows 11
Windows Server 2012
Windows Server 2016
Windows Server 2019
Windows Server 2022

Cause

The SEP ICDM client boot strap does not have the ability to 'check' and see if the client is supposed to be a member of a specific ICDM Domain, as such in an upgrade scenario or after a full uninstall any package that applies the ICDM communications settings will override previous ICDM Domain membership and move the client to any domain specified in the install package.

Resolution

No resolution is needed as this is as designed.
