Issue/Introduction

How to enable an alert for CA-7.SMF3 message, as this message was not issued when a job failed in CA 7.

Environment

Product: CA 7 

Resolution

Use WTO=YES (or HI for highlighted WTO) on the RESTART statement in the initialization file to generate the CA-7.SMF3 message for job abends/failures. 

 

System log example:

CA-7.SMF3 JOB CA7TESTn (000n/000nnnn/CA7TST  ) ON SYSn FAILED: JCL ERROR                                                              

CA-7.SMF3 JOB CA7TESTn (000n/000nnnn/CA7TST  ) ON SYSn FAILED: JOB 000n

 

Your automation tool can use this message CA-7.SMF3 to capture.

 

Note:  ICOM must be active in the system where the job executes to generate the CA-7.SMF3 message for the Problem Management tool to capture.
