Issue/Introduction

  • Upgrading Cloud Director fails at the database schema upgrade phase
  • When running the Database upgrade command, /opt/vmware/vcloud-director/bin/upgrade, the following error is noticed:
    2024-03-13 23:01:12,636 | ERROR | main | UpgradeAgent | Could not retrieve database schema version: could not inspect JDBC autocommit mode | org.hibernate.exception.JDBCConnectionException: could not inspect JDBC autocommit mode. Unable to upgrade the database: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: An I/O error occurred while sending to the backend.

Environment

VMware Cloud Director 10.4.x

VMware Cloud Director 10.5.x

VMware Cloud Director 10.6.x

Cause

This issue can occur when the Cloud Director database is a large size

Resolution
