FRE SYSVIEW command to free memory

Issue/Introduction

Can the FRE command be used to free a part of memory or is an IPL needed? 

Environment

SYSVIEW 16.0 & 17.0 - z/OS supported releases - 

Resolution

The FRE line command can be used for this purpose. 

When selecting the job from the VSMTRACK, first make sure that the job is no longer active. 

When selecting the storage to free, it should be dumped first to make sure that the contents of the area is what should be freed and is not used by any other active jobs.
