Issue/Introduction

Title: Edge tunnels down
Event ID: infrastructure_communication.edge_tunnels_down

Alarm Description:

  • Purpose:
    To inform user we have all tunnels down event. All tunnels down event could be caused by underlay network infra or BFD did not get processed.

  • Impact:
     All tunnels down will bring down the edge node until one of tunnels come back up. Please check syslog containing "VTEP tunnels down" and look for any logs/events which triggers all tunnels down.  
     The edge-to-host tunnels must be in place, and all of them need to be in down state in order to trigger the alarm.

Resolution

For 3.0.0 and higher

Recommendation Action:
Invoke the NSX CLI command `get tunnel-ports` to get all tunnel ports, then check each tunnel’s stats by invoking NSX CLI command `get tunnel-port <UUID> stats` to check if there are any drops. Also check /var/log/syslog if there are tunnel related errors.
