When the Vtape commands /SVTS D G or /SVTS D C are given, the cache values show DASD% 0.
Vtape
Vtape VTS uses an exit name of SVTDOUT when performing a DCOLLECT to gather information on the DASD cache volumes. After applying maintenance for IBM Apar OA46062, PTF UA75185, the facility name used to secure IDCAMS DCOLLECT exit names changes from the default value of STGADMIN.IDC.DCOLLECT to STGADMIN.IDC.DCOLLECT.exitname.
If you have secured the IDCAMS DCOLLECT command, you will need to give Vtape permission to use its exit.
For example:
RACF:
PE STGADMIN.IDC.DCOLLECT.SVTDOUT CL(FACILITY) ID(STCVTAP) AC(R)
TOP SECRET:
TSS PERMIT (STCVTAP) IBMFAC (STGADMIN.IDC.DCOLLECT.SVTDOUT) ACC (READ)
If permission is not given, Vtape will not be able to accurately report on its DASD cache usage in the SVT1 Display Cache or SVT1 Display Groups console commands and will no longer be able to release DASD cache space based on the CacheFreespaceThreshold setting. Instead, cache will fill up and space release will have to be performed during mount processing which will delay each mount.
This new security requirement is documented in the latest version of the Vtape Installation Guide, Preparing for Installation chapter, Security Requirements section.
