Links seen as down in standby VMware SD-WAN Edge

Issue/Introduction

On a VMware SD-WAN Enhanced HA set up, after a factory reset is done on the 2 boxes, the links in the standby unit might not be visible from the VCO Edge Monitor Page:

However the paths will still be up through the link:

 

Cause

Issue is caused by defect ID: 122717: Spurious netlink messages can cause the wan link on standby to go down

When hard reset is done in an enhanced HA setup, the standby edge's WAN link (the USE_PEER link) can go down. This is because of a spurious netlink down message in the active edge.

Resolution

Issue ID: 122717 is resolved VMWare SD-WAN edge releases:

• 6.0.0.0 (R6000-20240509-GA) and above.
• 5.4.0.0 (R5400-20231009-GA) and above.
• 5.2.3.2 (R5232-20240516-GA) and above.
