Issue/Introduction

  • Virtual Machines will disconnect the CDROM immediately after it is connected. This will occur via both vSphere UI and Host Client.
  • vmfs/volumes/vm_datastore/vmname/vmware.log will indicate that the disc was ejected by the Guest OS immediately after it is connected.

Cause

Certain security software agents within Guest OS can prevent the CDROM access.

Resolution

Involve the third party software vendor to investigate/redefine the policy to allow the CDROM access.
