Restore of vCenter Server may fail if a different storage size is selected during restore

Issue/Introduction

• Restore of a of vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA) from a file-based backup may fail.
• You receive a Metadata and system validation failed error message as shown below. 

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 8.0.x

Cause

This issue can occur when the storage size selected during the restore process does not match the storage size that vCenter Server was initially deployed with.

Resolution

Select the same storage size the vCenter Server was initially deployed with.
