Issue/Introduction

 

  • ESXi 6.5 host fails with a purple diagnostic screen
  • In the purple diagnostic screen, you see back traces similar to:

Cause

This issue occurs due to the following reason:

  • A slow memory leak in the VMKAPI-char-metadata heap.

 

Impact - When the heap memory usage is used up the host will PSOD.

 

Resolution
