Virtual machines on NFS datastores experience a severe decrease in IOPS if snapshots are present

Resolution

To workaround this issue, use native NFS VAAI snapshots instead of ordinary non-native snapshots. This requires specific NFS array support and installation of a plugin provided by the array vendor.
