vmtoolsd crash issue on RDSH using VMware Tools 11.0.0, 11.0.1, 11.0.2, 11.0.3, 11.0.4, or 11.0.5

Issue/Introduction

• RDSH VM is unstable after crashing.
• This in turn causes cause Horizon failure, such as connection failure, CDR failure.

Cause

This issue occurs because In VMware Tools 11.0.0, a new plugin called 'appInfo' was bundled. This new plugin runs every 30 minutes (can be configured by the guest administrator) to capture the information about running processes. vmtoolsd can crash when the 'appinfo' plugin tries to capture the information about running applications.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware Tools 11.0.6, available at Broadcom Support.
