Usage Report shows Archived Volume but no archive destination (NFS) is configured.

Issue/Introduction

The Usage Reports page reports an Archived Volume measurement, but archiving to a NFS share has not been configured.

Environment

VMware Aria Operations for Logs 8.x

Cause

Archived Volume measures the amount of log data in buckets that have changed status from 'active' to 'archiving' to 'archived' when the buckets are sealed as part of the event lifecycle. This process happens for all buckets regardless of whether copying the archived buckets to a NFS share is configured.

Resolution

Constantly increasing amount of Archived Volume regardless of NFS configuration is the designed behavior of Operations for Logs.

Note: If an Archive Location is configured for an Index Partition, the log data from each bucket will be transferred to the NFS share during the bucket's archiving stage.
