Issue/Introduction

Having successfully configured SNMPv3 and added the ACL as outlined in the provided Tech. Article/Tech. docs, and can be confirmed to now work correctly, we have now encounter an issue with password length. Our standard is to use complex passwords that are 20 characters long, but the Management Center does not accept this password length for auth.

The following error is displayed on the Management Center CLI:

error on the Management Center CLI

-----------------------------------------------------------------^
syntax error: "****" has a bad length/size.

Please be informed that there isn't a documented definition for a Max. password length.

Cause

The suspicion is that the password used is failing not because of the length, but rather because it isn't passing the password policy requirements for MC.

Resolution

To correctly guide through setting a password that works, with MC, please refer to the Tech. Docs. with the URLs below, for the password policy and the MC best practices, and you will find the details for the password best practices therein.
