Issue/Introduction

Performing an upgrade of the Automic Service Manager in Windows using the Automic 21.0.10 HF1 OR 24.0.0 HF3 image files (these two versions ONLY), will overwrite the current UC4.smd file located in \ServiceManager\bin with the default file from the installation files.

If the file was modified since it was originally installed, this will be overwritten with the default file and any modification will have to be re-applied.

This does NOT affect any UNIX distro.

Environment

Version 21.0.10 HF1

Version 21.0.11

Version 24.0.0 HF3

Windows Service Manager upgrade only

Cause

A defect with the Service Manager setup files

Resolution

There are two workarounds to this.

The first workaround is to modify the setup file:

  1. Open the Setup.lst file in the installation image file
    located here : \Automic.Automation_21.0.10_2024-05-03\Automation.Platform\ServiceManager\windows\x64

  2. Line 31 of this file currently looks like the following:
    [email protected],$(AppPath),,,1/1/1,1,1.1.1.1,U

  3. Change line 31 so that it now looks like:
    [email protected],$(AppPath),,,1/1/1999,2000,3.02.0.0,I

  4. Save the change, and now setup.exe can be run and it will properly update the files and not overwrite the UC4.smd file.

The second workaround is to manually replace the following files with the ones in the new installation image:

uc.msl
ucybsmgr.exe
zu00132.dll
