Issue/Introduction

  • snmpd process on Manager stopped automatically.
  • Verify the status using following command

root@nsx-mngr-01:~# /etc/init.d/vmware-snmpd status
 vmware-snmpd.service - VMware SNMPD
     Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/vmware-snmpd.service; disabled; vendor preset: enabled)
     Active: inactive (dead)   <<<

  • /var/log/syslog will show entries similar to the below indicates service stopping automatically

Environment

VMware NSX-T Datacenter 3.x

VMware NSX 4.x

Resolution

This issue is resolved in VMware NSX 3.2.4
This issue is resolved in VMware NSX 4.1.1
This issue is resolved in VMware NSX 4.2.0

Workaround:

Execute "/etc/init.d/vmware-snmpd restart" on the problematic node and verify the status using above command.
