Is there a recommended best practice for backup and restore of the DX UIM Database?

Resolution

The topic of database backup and restore is outside the scope of Broadcom's responsibility and ability to support.  It is recommended that you work with your DBA to devise an appropriate backup and restore strategy.

Generally speaking, the requirement for backup is that a full backup of the UIM Database (MSSQL, MySQL, or Oracle) be taken in a manner that makes it available for a full restore as opposed to an incremental backup strategy.

A full backup should always be taken immediately prior to any upgrades as well so that it can be rolled back to the prior version if necessary.
