DX Unified Infrastructure Management (Nimsoft / UIM)

Issue/Introduction

Users do not have the roles required to access this portlet or are unable to view Dashboards or Private Pages despite being granted permissions in Dashboard Settings

Note: This problem may appear directly after an upgrade of the UIM product from 8.2 to 8.3.1 or later.

Symptom:

Site member receives error when trying to view Dashboard "You do not have the roles required to access this portlet"

The same user may have also been able to access the same Dashboard prior to a product upgrade or prior to another change, such as ACL change or Dashboard Setting change or Private Page Setting change.

Environment

UIM 8.2 and later

UMP 8.2 and later

Resolution

You must verify that view permissions are granted in 2 (or possibly more) places:

1. Unified Dashboard View Configuration Settings - -

In the Unified Management Portal (UMP) while viewing Unified Dashboards - For a specific view, click on the wrench icon in the upper right hand corner of the view and select Configuration and confirm that the proper Role has the View Permission - i.e. the "View" column check box is checked next to the correct Role.

2. Unified Management Portal Control Panel Site Page Settings - -

In the Unified Management Portal (UMP) in the grey top bar on the right hand side next to the "House" icon click on Go to and select Control Panel and select the correct Site. Next click on Site Pages and view the list of Private pages. Click on the grey Permissions button (next to the "gold key" icon) - then - Verify that the correct Role (for example, Site Member) has the View Permission. Save any changes.

3. You may need to make additional checks as in Step 2 for other pages and templates.

Any saved changes will take immediate effect.
