Set up and limit multiple users access to individual sites (portlets) within Unified Management Portal (UMP)

In this article we will go over the steps to configure a site within the Unified Management Portal (UMP) and assign/limit users to that site.


These instructions can be used with any users created within UMP, including users created using the Lightweight Directory Access Protocal (LDAP)


1. Configure User Groups
     a. While logged in as administrator
     b. Select "Control Panel" from the "Go to" drop down.
     c. On the left side click the Users and Organizations menu under the Portal tab.
     d. From the "Add" drop down select "Regular Organization"
     e. Enter the Name and leave Type as "Regular Organization".
     f. Click Save.

2. Assign Users to Organization
    a. Click on "Users and Organizations"
    b. On the right side Select "Assign Users" from the "Actions" drop down.
    c. Check the boxes for the users you would like to add to the Organization.
    d. Click "Update Associations"

3. Configure User Roles
    a. Click on "Users and Organizations"
    b. Click on the organization name which you just created.
    c. Click on the User Name that you would like to change their role
    d. On the right hand side click "Roles"
    e. Under "Regular Roles" click remove next to "Super User"
    f. Click Save

4. Set up a site by following the Deploying End-User Portals with Sites in Nimsoft UMP 7.x and Later(1).docx
    a. At step 6 instead of Selecting "User", Select "Organization".
    b. Select the organization that was previously created.
