Issue/Introduction
Do the following Database Management for Db2 for z/OS Post Install task jobs need to be run when upgrading to a new release of Database Management tools for Db2 for z/OS:
RCM LOAD AND CUSTOMIZE THE MODEL SERVICES TABLE
RCM LOAD THE AUTOMAPPING MASK SERVICES TABLE
RCM LOAD THE RULE SET TABLE
The Ruleset and Maskset are used in RC/Compare Strategies. Utility models are used in Compare and Migration Strategies.
Resolution
Model Services:
Yes run this job. We recommend that an unchanged version of the @DEFAULT model be kept for every release with a SHARE OPTION N so it cannot be modified.
This version can be compared to the previous release version to identify changes that have been made (See additional information).
Automapping Maskset:
Yes run this job. We recommend that an @DEFAULT maskset be kept per release with a Share Option Y (only the creator can change). Execute this task the first time you install RC/Compare with RC/Migrator on a DB2 subsystem. Be aware if the job is executed again on the same subsystem, it will overwrite any customizations that was made to the @DEFAULT maskset.
Ruleset:
Yes run this job. We recommend that an @DEFAULT ruleset be kept per release with a Share Option Y (only the creator can change). Execute this task the first time you install RC/Migrator
into a DB2 subsystem. Be aware if this job is executed again on the same subsystem, it adds another @DEFAULT ruleset into the rule set table .
There are times when maintenance will make changes to these models, then you will be directed to run the necessary task to pull in the updated version.
